Learner Agreement

 

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this course ‘the Principles of Social and Therapeutic Horticulture’ is to shape some of the current discourse around gardens and gardening for health and well-being, and to invite participants to engage in an ongoing conversation about the fundamentals of Social and Therapeutic Horticulture; what it is, who it helps, how and why it works.

 

LEARNING

The course has 5 learning outcomes. Upon completion of this course you:

  • Will know the key principles of Social and Therapeutic Horticulture
  • Will know and be able to describe and explain the three therapeutic opportunities that underscore STH
  • Will know who STH can help
  • Will be able to describe and explain a ‘guided model’ of practice
  • Will know the role of the practitioner in connecting evidence and outcomes to practice.

The learning content is mainly video and presentation based, with supporting content provided in the form of text, activities, and discussion forums.

To aid accessibility, a transcript of each of the main presentations can be found as a txt document underneath the main course videos.

And a presentation containing the main slides used in the course is provided under the heading ‘course documents’.

FORUMS AND CERTIFICATION

In order to complete the course and receive a certificate of CPD, you must complete all of the learning content and participate, at least once, in each of the mandatory discussion forums that are marked (M). Once this happens, a certificate of completion will appear in the ‘certificate’ module at the end of the course.

You are automatically ‘subscribed’ to all of the course discussion forums when you enrolled in the course. This means you will receive email notification each time a facilitator or participant posts to a course forum. To turn this feature off, enter a forum and click the word ‘subscribed’ in the top right-hand corner.

In addition, you agree to abide by the following code of conduct:

You may use the Discussion Forums for the sole purpose of sharing and exchanging ideas with fellow course praticipants and other users. Any information posted in the Forums will become public information. You agree to use the Forums in accordance with all applicable laws.

You are expressly prohibited from compiling and using community members’ or other users’ personal information that may appear in the forum for the purpose of creating marketing lists or using such information for commercial solicitation purposes.

You agree that you will not access or attempt to access any other user’s account, or misrepresent or attempt to misrepresent your identity while using course discussion forums.

In addition you are expressly prohibited from posting any of the following:

  • Content that violates UK or international Law
  • Content that discusses illegal activities with the intent to commit them
  • Content that is libellous or that defames or threatens others
  • Harassing statements
  • Hate speech
  • Content that is obscene
  • Unauthorized copyrighted material or material that infringes another’s intellectual property
  • Content that is confidential or subject to a non-disclosure agreement
  • Advertising or any form of commercial solicitation
  • Communications that could be confused with official communications of Thrive or another community member
  • Content that is otherwise offensive or objectionable

YOUR ACCOUNT

Each enrolled participant must register with a unique user account and password.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your computer and devices, and to the extent permitted by applicable law you agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password.

You should take all necessary steps to ensure that the password is kept confidential and secure and should inform Thrive immediately if you have any reason to believe that your password has become known to anyone else, or if the password is being, or is likely to be used in an unauthorised manner.

You are responsible for ensuring that the details you provide us with are correct and complete, and for informing us of any changes to the information you have provided.

You must not use this service in any way that causes, or is likely to cause, any service, or any access to it to be interrupted, damaged or impaired in any way, or to cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety.

 

ACCESS

Unless stated otherwise, access the learning content will end 40 calendar days after you enrol on the course. If you would like to retain full access to course content after this date, please email training@thrive.org.uk (note this may involve an admin fee).
